Cars24 is Australia's largest online used car retailer — and we're transforming how vehicles move through the market, from sourcing to sale.

With a fully digital buying experience and national operations, we manage thousands of vehicles every month — and now we're expanding our private vehicle buying capability. We're looking for an experienced Private Car Buyer in QLD to lead the charge in buying and selling vehicles to and from trade dealers, backed by the support of a national team. You will act as our lead buyer and have the oppurtunity to work closely with the General Manager and founder (COO).

The Role & What You'll Do

As our Lead QLD Private Buyer, you'll take ownership of the private buying channel — identifying stock sourcing opportunities, building dealer relationships, and ensuring fast, accurate vehicle movement through the network.

You'll be responsible for both purchasing and selling vehicles within the trade market, operating with autonomy and accountability.

Your core responsibilities

* Buy vehicles for resale through dealer and trade channels
* Sell vehicle stock from our inventory to approved trade partners
* Build and maintain relationships with used car dealers and fleet operators
* Identify sourcing opportunities to supplement existing inventory
* Negotiate confidently on purchase and sale pricing, margins, and volumes
* Manage procurement workflows and pricing models
* Maintain visibility on automotive trends, vehicle demand, and resale values
* Work closely with internal teams to track stock movement and ensure operational alignment

Requirements

* Proven experience in automotive buying and/or selling
* A strong, active network of dealers and sourcing contacts
* Deep understanding of vehicle pricing, resale demand, and wholesale valuations
* Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills
* Strong commercial acumen and the ability to operate autonomously
* Great attention to detail and ability to manage end-to-end transactions
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Willingness to complete a police and background check
* Competitive base salary + super + uncapped commissions: OTE $150,000 - $200,000+
* $60/m phone allowance and $500 Wellness Bonus
