In this role, you'll:


Join the Intercity Services team as an Area Manager and this role will see you manage a cross-functional customer service team with accountability for the operation across both station and train crew functions for either one of two roles - the Southern Highlands and South Coast region, or Newcastle and Hunter region.


The management of your allocated area will see you problem-solve and investigate a vast range of matters to ensure appropriate action and remedial recommendations are taken to resolve issues whilst at the same promote and deliver increased community and customer engagement.


This includes leading the operation and delivery of Train services and customer service delivery on stations, managing the assigned facilities, supporting service reliability with the provision of 24/7 supervision of crew and station operation and services, and cost control and business improvement initiatives to enable efficiency and increased commerciality, including patronage growth.


Both are permanent roles - based equally between Sth Coast and Southern Highlands, or, between Newcastle and Hunter region, and will require you to visit stations across the region.

About you


In addition to possessing relevant leadership and management experience, you will be adept at managing unexpected events/issues and be able to think on your feet and remain calm under pressure. You will also have experience being responsible for a large geographically dispersed team.


You will have a collegiate and collaborative leadership style and a proven track record in driving outcomes and building success across a diverse workforce. You have led and managed large teams towards a culture of exceptional customer service and your strong influencing skills will support your drive for transformational change as you work closely with a wide range of key internal and external stakeholders including customers and community groups, and Local Government.


Ideally, you have demonstrated experience in leading large, 24-hour operational / frontline services teams in a highly complex and industrial setting combined with your strong commercial management skills will set you up for success in the role.


You’ll be extremely resilient, comfortable with working within the challenges involved in workplace consultation in a complex safety and unionised environment.


You’ll be excited about developing your own skills and capabilities in a leading public service agency and most importantly, you are motivated by a desire to make a real difference, for our people in NSW.
