About the Role
Child, Youth & Family Practitioner
Our role is for a temporary full time position up to 30 June ****
The Commonwealth Psychosocial Support Program (CPSP) provides free support for 7-17 year-old living with, or at risk of, a complex mental illness who are not eligible for NDIS.
The CPSP Program provides the opportunity for young people and their families and significant relationships to:
Collaborate with skilled practitioners
Explore strategies to strengthen social skills, friendships and family connections
Address daily living needs and functioning
Improve physical wellbeing, including exercise and a healthy routine
Create a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships
Develop confidence and resilience
Manage drug and alcohol addictions, assist with managing finances, accommodation and employment or education goals
Key Responsibilities
Flexibility to engage children and young people in their home or school environment
Utilising relevant counselling techniques in sessions to build children and young people and their support network's capacity to identify and respond to their own needs
Developing and maintaining trust and strong relationships with children, young people and their families/support relationships
Undertaking assessments to develop collaborative, holistic action and intervention plans
Provide flexible and practical ongoing intervention, advice and support
Engaging in safety planning and risk management
Maintaining appropriate files and records to facilitate good case coordination and accountability
Liaise and collaborate with a range of service providers
Working from our office located in Yarrabilba, you will provide outreach support in client homes and schools within the Logan/Beaudesert region, with all work-related travel reimbursed.
Qualifications & Experience
Tertiary qualifications in allied health (e.g. social work, human services, psychology or mental health occupational therapy)
Minimum 2 year's experience with working directly with children and adolescents aged 7-17 years in a therapeutic or case coordination setting;
The ability to work collaboratively with caregivers, stakeholders and team members to build on functional psychosocial capacity domains of children and young people;
Proficient in safety planning and conducting mental health assessments, with a strong commitment to continuous improvement in these areas to better support individuals in therapeutic intervention
Good understanding of child and adolescent development and mental health;
Well-developed assessment and intervention skills with children and adolescents who may have multiple needs and mental health concerns;
The ability to think 'outside the box' with regards to therapeutic engagement activities;
A client-centred approach, with the ability to work from a strengths-based framework;
Excellent case planning and formulation abilities, supported by well documented case notes;
Good problem solving, organisation and prioritising skills; and
A current driver's licence and motor vehicle.
