About the role
In this job, you play a crucial role in making sure the Perioperative Unit runs smoothly.
You'll work with the team to check what equipment is needed for surgeries, making sure everything is clean and works well.
You'll also help identify equipment that needs maintenance and keep track of supplies.
Your job involves cleaning carefully, and following state-wide specific standards and rules to keep things safe and prevent infections.
When moving patients, you'll use the correct techniques to keep everyone safe.
You'll also assist with getting patients ready for surgery while respecting their privacy.
Following instructions during surgeries and being careful when moving things around are very important.
Your support in the Perioperative Unit helps the nursing staff, making our healthcare operations successful.
Where you'll be working :
The Armidale Rural Referral Hospital Operating Theatres play a vital role in delivering critical care services to Armidale and surrounding areas, serving as the central referral hub for smaller centers in the Tablelands cluster.
Armidale Operating Theatres consist of Three Theatres and an Endoscopy room, we have 2 to 3 lists operating per day and the following surgery are below.
Theatre One : Orthopaedics, Ophthalmic
Theatre Two : General, Obstetrics / Gynaecology, Emergencies
Theatre Three : Obstetrics / Gynaecology, Urology, and Emergencies
Procedure Room (Theatre 4) : All Endoscopic procedures
You will have thorough orientation and training within the unit by staff and NUM.
About You :
Join our team as a mature individual if you're experienced as an Operations Assistant or interested in learning about endoscope maintenance.
Your good communication with multidisciplinary team members, managing time well, and knowing how to prioritize tasks will be a great fit.
You understand how to keep things clean and safe, following guidelines for infection control.
Be prepared for a flexible schedule, including weekends and being on call sometimes.

Information for Applicants
This position is full-time; however, job share and / or part-time arrangements will be considered.
An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full or part-time and temporary full or part-time vacancies.
To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand passport.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable local candidate is identified for the position; in this instance, you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA).
New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (AIR Immunisation History Statement) certifying the worker cannot haveany approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of COVID-19 vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement (IHS), or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate, or AIR COVID-19 and Influenza IHS.
Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
