Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Aquaculture Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our aquaculture department, you will be responsible for monitoring the health of fish and scheduling regular check-ups on the farm.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor fish health and schedule regular check-ups to ensure optimal water quality and prevent disease outbreaks
* Collaborate with colleagues to assist with passive surveillance programmes and identify areas for improvement
* Develop and implement work plans to collect data and improve fish health outcomes
* Conduct water quality testing and management to maintain healthy aquatic environments
* Classify and quantify microalgae to inform management decisions
* Perform laboratory tasks including dissection and microscope usage to diagnose diseases
Requirements:
* Relevant qualifications or experience in Aquaculture, Agriculture, Horticulture or Science related fields
* Current driver's license and reliable transportation
* High attention to detail and willingness to learn and adapt to new situations
This role involves hands-on work with fish handling, necropsy, sample collection, and microscope use. It requires a high level of physical fitness and comfort working indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
