* Position Brief - Community Centre Duty Officer
About the role
We’re looking for dedicated individuals to be the first point of contact at the City’s Community and Cultural Centres during evenings and weekends. In this role, you’ll be the friendly face that welcomes event attendees, provides room access, and supports with event setup, including chairs, tables, and basic AV equipment.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll play a key part in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and presentation of our public spaces. Full training will be provided, equipping you to act confidently as a First Aider and Fire Warden, ensuring every event runs smoothly in a safe and welcoming environment.
You’ll be working across key venues, including Broadbeach Cultural Centre, Robina Auditorium, and Nerang Bicentennial Community Centre.

We’re looking for people who have:
* Outstanding customer service skills, with the ability to create a welcoming and supportive experience for event guests.
* Strong communication skills, able to engage confidently with customers, contractors, and colleagues.
* A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
* Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills, particularly in fast-paced environments.
* A sound understanding of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
* Experience with basic AV setups (e.g. connecting projectors, laptops, microphones) desirable but not essential.
* Willingness and capability to carry out physical tasks such as setting up rooms, moving chairs and tables, and being on your feet for extended periods.
* Flexibility to work predominantly after hours and on weekends.
This role is ideal for individuals with a background in hospitality, convention centres, or event management.
