About The Opportunity
Airbus is now hiring a Technical Publications Officer to join our Edinburgh team in support of the P-8A Poseidon platform.
The aim of the technical publications team is to compile and maintain electronic, mechanical, and safety information for use in all forms of technical documentation including owner's manuals, technical instructions, and any other document that is necessary for the technical and operational support of our products and component parts.
About The Role
Technical publication development involves document content research and multitasking with engineers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and other Support Engineering (SE) teams.
Reporting to the Team Lead P-8A Tech Support Services, the Technical Publications Officer will produce technical publications for the nominated platforms technical systems, including hardcopy and electronic technical manuals as required. This will involve research and analysis of technical information and data required to support the further development of platform technical publications supported by the various Airbus programs.
The Technical Publications Officer will then be responsible to translate the data into the appropriated format and promulgate the finalised document to the applicable customers (internal and external).
Some of your day-to-day activities will include but are not limited to:
* Provide management of aircraft technical publications during in-country sustainment
* Assist in maintaining Technical Maintenance Plans for aircraft components
* Implement design changes and improvements (including drafting, review and publishing) generated from OEM and vendors and Engineering organizations, correcting issues into appropriate publications for the ADF (electronic or physical).
* Conduct publication reviews at regular intervals as specified via AAP
* Undertake Technical Information Review
* Liaise with other business and functional units, operators, maintainers, airworthiness authorities and members of the relevant Support Network in Australia and overseas as appropriate to support technical change activities
* Maintain data files and engineering records within the PLMT as required to accurately report and record engineering decisions
About You
To be successful in this role, it is a requirement to be able to work in a team environment, have well developed relationship building skills as well as good verbal and written skills. You will need to be someone who is able to work to tight deadlines and work comfortably in an integrated work environment with a keen focus on continuous improvement.
The skills and experience that are best suited to this role include:
* Demonstrable experience in writing technical publications and technical publication amendments.
* Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
* Demonstrated high-level communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and customer satisfaction
Other experience that would assist you to succeed in this role would include:
* Knowledge and experience with using the S1000D specification and Standard Generalized Mark-up Language (SGML) authoring
* Experience with Simplified Technical English
* Experience with Hardcopy publication management
* Good working knowledge of the DASR Regulations
* Previous on aircraft maintenance experience
Qualifications that would be desirable for this role may include:
* Certificate IV in Aeroskills
* Formal S100D Training
* Formal training in the Adobe Suite software
* Formal training with Microsoft Suite Software
