The position is suited to someone who can confidently manage sensitive issues, simplify technical information, and provide trusted communications advice to senior leaders.The role involves close collaboration with internal project teams, external contractors, community groups and other government agencies, supporting both proactive communications and responsive engagement needs.Key responsibilitiesDevelop and deliver communications strategies aligned with project timelines and goalsCreate clear, accessible content for a range of platforms, including media releases, stakeholder updates, website content and social mediaProvide strategic advice on engagement and issues management to project teams and executivesPlan and coordinate community consultation and stakeholder engagement activitiesMonitor media and public sentiment, and support the preparation of briefings and responsesTranslate complex project and technical information into plain English messagingHelp ensure all communication materials meet accessibility and branding guidelinesAbout The CandidateThe ideal candidate will bring:Extensive experience in communications, stakeholder engagement or mediaExceptional writing and editing skills with attention to clarity and toneStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to work across diverse stakeholder groupsExperience working on large infrastructure or public projects (preferred)Confidence handling high-pressure or sensitive communications issuesA proactive mindset and the ability to manage competing deadlinesUnderstanding of government processes and community engagement standardsDesirable QualificationsTertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations or related disciplineFamiliarity with engagement tools and channels such as Engagement HQ or Inx InForAt Randstad, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all.
