The Translational Research Institute (TRI) is a leading Australian medical research, development and translation facility.
It is home to a range of cutting-edge technologies including interventions to prevent and treat human diseases and provide diagnosis of early disease.Supported by grants from the Australian and Queensland Governments, TRI is situated in the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) precinct and combines the research intellect and capability of Queensland Health, The University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and the Mater Research.About the RoleThe primary purpose of the Director of Translational Engagement is to provide outstanding people leadership with responsibility for facilitating collaborations and driving new translational opportunities required by clinicians and researchers.
The overall aim is to build a thriving innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem: creating an intersection of science, clinicians, consumers, and industry.The Director of Translational Engagement is a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and works closely with the CEO and ELT in strategic planning for the Executive and the Board as required.
As a member of the ELT, the Director of Translational Engagement assists in leading the culture of the organisation.This role is offered on a maximum-term contract for up to 5 years.
The role is part-time at 15.2 hours per week (0.4 FTE).
This position is open to engagement through a Secondment.Key Selection CriteriaQualificationsDesirable – Registration in Australia as a health practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Desirable - Research higher degree (or ongoing enrolment towards a research higher degree) in an area of translational health and medical research is highly desired.ExperienceCurrent or history of clinical and/or translational practice (which may continue on appointment).
Established research track record.Experience in health-related leadership essential.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesHigh level of integrity and professional accountability.Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Experience in leading and contributing to high functioning multi-disciplinary health and research teams.To apply for this position, candidates must submit a cover letter addressing the selection criteria and a current resume quoting job reference 1879.
