Nestlé Purina offers an opportunity for a motivated Electrical & Automation Engineer at the Blayney Petfood Manufacturing Facility. This role supports Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Electricity, and Automation (E&A) in operational activities and CAPEX projects.
A day in the life…
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be part of a collaborative team focused on improving factory operations. Key responsibilities include:
* Managing the factory electrical infrastructure from design to installation, maintenance, operation, and upgrades as part of the site electrical strategy.
* Participating in capital investment projects, ensuring technical solutions meet corporate and market standards.
* Preparing user and technical specifications.
* Ensuring process and equipment safety for people, products, and the environment, with a zero-tolerance attitude for unsafe situations.
* Managing change processes for MES-E&A modifications.
* Contributing to continuous improvement through understanding process and product characteristics.
* Supervising and coordinating automation and MES maintenance and project work by electricians and contractors.
* Collaborating with production, quality management, and engineering teams to resolve automation and MES issues.
* Developing deep process insights and striving for quality, safety, and efficiency improvements while protecting technological know-how.
* Implementing engineering tools at the site level (e.g., NSAT, NEST, AMM).
* Ensuring MES-E&A installations comply with safety, health, environment, and quality standards.
* Maintaining up-to-date documentation (e.g., SLD, URS, FDS, calibration procedures) and participating in M&I activities.
What Will Make You Successful
* Being a strong leader in a collaborative team of specialists, with a drive to deliver quality outcomes.
* Holding a degree or diploma with solid electrical and automation experience.
* Having at least 3 years of experience as an automation and/or MES engineer with electrical expertise.
* Experience supervising technical teams, contractors, or third parties.
* Participating in engineering projects within multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience in start-up of technical equipment or production lines.
* Exposure to TPM, preventive maintenance planning, and execution is desirable.
* Proficiency in installation, programming, and troubleshooting of Allen Bradley PLCs and variable speed drives is desired.
* Deep knowledge of instrumentation, process control, real-time management, MES, man/machine interfaces, communication, and hardware.
* A proactive, thorough, and detail-oriented personality with strong relationship-building skills.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and negotiate to achieve high standards.
