**About this role**
The primary focus of this role is to provide ecological technical advice to our clients. Time will be shared across field and office work during which the ecologist will be working independently or with others to complete ecological surveys in accordance with Government and scientific guidelines, and in the office for tasks such as report writing, team meetings and client meetings. Based on current and expected future projects, the role will be assisting with the design and delivery of major road, rail, water and energy projects across Victoria.
**What will I do?**
- You will work under mínimal supervision within a defined area of responsibility. This may include being responsible for specific parts of an ecological project or task
- You will be responsible for checking the quality and accuracy of own and others work. Furthermore, you may be responsible for the development of others through providing guidance, training and feedback
- Your work will encompass authoring non-standard letters, reports and other documentation
- You may represent your team or group at external meetings and you may be involved in developing events, activities and internal projects of some complexity
**What will I bring?**
- Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Botany, Ecology, Botany, Zoology, Environmental Management or related discipline.
- Vegetation Quality Assessment Habitat hectares qualification.
- 2 + years relevant industry experience in a professional working workplace, including state/local government and/or consulting.
- 2 + years relevant industry experience undertaking field work.
- Knowledge and understanding of applicability of planning legislation and regulations in Victoria
- Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership is desirable but not essential.
