Senior Project Engineer
A senior project engineer is responsible for managing and implementing project works to achieve time, cost, quality, safety, and contractual targets.
Key responsibilities include developing and enforcing procedures to ensure quality, safety, timely delivery, and budget compliance. Additionally, the role involves ensuring QA implementation on site; supporting Site Engineers and supervisors in applying QA standards.
The senior project engineer will be responsible for developing construction documentation (CAP, WPA, CMS) and project programs (Initial + 6WLA). Conducting and documenting safety risk assessments with the site team; ensuring HSE approvals are in place.
Reviewing subcontractor IPC claims and assisting with subcontract administration. Providing technical review of subcontract packages and supporting procurement activities.
Mentoring the engineering team to strengthen technical knowledge and capability. Reviewing design packages with technical teams/DJV and coordinating design for site use.
Developing 6–12 month look-ahead programs for planning and procurement. Coordinating site support teams with construction teams to ensure smooth delivery.
Procuring materials for direct work areas in line with design drawings. Ensuring tunnel procedures are followed, and permits are current.
Collaborating with supervisors to develop detailed daily and look-ahead programs, including resources and deliveries.
Driving continuous improvement in construction methodologies, alternative designs, and material selection. Assisting QA team with remedial actions and close-out of NCRs.
Ensuring data for shift reports is reviewed and opportunities identified, for improvement to methods and reoccurring issues/delays.
Monitoring progress of the planned works and regularly reviewing the delay allowance status.
Coordinating resources to ensure the project works progress in conjunction with other section works.
Tracking off-site procurement items against the program.
Actively participating in resource planning to generate a target program based on methodology, with completion ahead of contracted deadlines by an appropriate delay allowance.
Communicating the program to all relevant internal parties.
Fostering a “one Team” culture, ensuring site teams cooperate effectively and integrate with wider project teams.
Coordinating Graduate and Site Engineers, clarifying expectations and providing regular feedback to support performance.
Leading the development of Graduate and Site Engineers by identifying and addressing capability needs.
Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients and external stakeholders, in line with the project code of ethics.
