GROUP RETAIL MANAGER Owns and drives the strategic and operational leadership of Hamilton Island’s retail portfolio, leading team performance, workforce planning, and administrative functions across all outlets. The Group Retail Manager is responsible for embedding efficient systems, reporting frameworks and processes, elevating service standards, optimizing inventory management, and driving operational excellence with a specific focus on outlet individuality (or range) and supplier strategy. The role plays a key part in business development—identifying new retail concepts, partnerships, and growth opportunities that align with Hamilton Island’s brand, including retail space evolution, branded pop-ups, events and business partner activations. Where you’ll make an impact Develop and execute Hamilton Island’s overall retail strategy, identifying and capitalizing on commercial growth opportunities, driving revenue and profitability across all retail outlets, and ensuring the retail offer consistently reflects Hamilton Island’s brand positioning and enhances the overall guest experience. Lead, support, and develop Retail Outlet Managers and team members to achieve operational and commercial objectives, ensuring all retail systems (including POS/InfoGenesis and Finance1) remain accurate and up to date. Manage inventory efficiently including buying, stock load, invoice processing, margin management, SOH, completion of supplier requests. Own supplier selection, evaluation and negotiation of supplier terms, and drive supplier consolidation strategies (e.g., consolidating all branded merchandise purchases to a single supplier) to improve efficiency and margins. Manages stock take processes for all retail outlets and certain activity outlets as directed by the Director of Retail & Business Partnerships. Create product mix analysis and manage buying summary for all individual stores. Lead product design and ordering for specialized events including Hamilton Island Race Week, and collaborate with prospective corporate groups and events on co-branding opportunities for group guests. Suggest and arrange retail events and branded pop-ups across the island, and identify and collaborate with potential business partners for retail activations and partnership opportunities. Oversee visual merchandising and product offering across all outlets and digital channels, including updates and design of retail websites, staying up to date with latest trends. Lead retail space evolution, store concept development and refresh projects, and manage retail fit-out and improvement initiatives. Attend to all guest feedback in a prompt manner and ensure a maximum level of guest satisfaction is achieved. Prepare and present monthly financial reports to the Director – Retail & Business Partnerships, including sales performance, trends analysis, sell-through rates, and inventory tracking by store and supplier. Drive revenue growth and profitability through data-led decision making and performance optimization. Ensure aged stock is managed appropriately through reporting and is actioned accordingly. Oversee compliance of SOPs and customer service standards across retail including internal audits whilst ensuring all retail managers and staff comply with all SOPs. Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management to all Retail Managers and staff, including annual performance plans and development reviews. Oversee workforce planning, salaries and wages across all retail outlets, ensuring alignment with budgets and fostering a high-performance, customer-focused culture. What we’re looking for We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and the patience to work effectively with team members. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage time efficiently are essential in this role. To be successful, you will need 3-5 years’ experience in Senior Retail Management or Multi-site Retail Management (Essential) Microsoft suite skills including advanced Excel (Essential) Proven experience managing budgets, forecasting, and cost control (Essential) Experience in inventory control, stock planning, supplier management, and POS/Finance1 systems (Desirable) Experience in resort, tourism, or event-based retail environments (Desirable) About Hamilton Island Our mission is to share the wonder of Hamilton Island with the world by creating wonder-filled experiences for our guests, employees and community.
