Primary objective
Provide allied health assistance and other support as directed for the clients of the Physiotherapy Service. The Allied Health
Assistant will work under the direction of the physiotherapy team in the provision of allied health services to optimise outcomes
for the client group.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Prepare for and undertake clinical tasks under the direction and delegation of the allied health professional.
2. Ensure the maintenance of allied health equipment and/or stock, including storage, labelling, cleaning, receiving, distribution,
delivery and return, as well as rotation and monitoring levels of equipment, consumables and other resources
3. Participate in administrative support duties and assist allied health professionals with client related records as per team policies
1. Research, source, obtain quotes and order resources, equipment, and/or stock, in keeping with team direction and budget
parameters and ensure related invoices are processed as per Departmental procedures.
5. Provide support and allow shadowing to students, trainees, and new staff
6. Under the delegation of the allied health professional, assist with any required screening of clients using a standardised
screening tool and/or other appropriate questionnaires/resources.
7. Participate in quality improvement initiatives
1. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken
to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance OR relevant experience in a field of technical work closely related to the duties of the
vacancy.
Demonstrated understanding of multicultural differences and the impacts on health outcomes.
1. Well-developed communication, interpersonal skills, negotiation and conflict management skills, with experience working in a
team environment to achieve positive health outcomes.
1. Ability to work under direction and instruction to assist health professionals provide high quality clinical services.
2. Ability to think laterally and problem solve independently with initiative and demonstrate organisational and time management
skills
Working experience with clients and consumers within a health, aged care or disability setting.
1. Upholds a high level of personal integrity, confidentiality, adaptability and the ability to interact with diverse cultures.
2. Well-developed computer skills including use of Microsoft Office programmes and an ability to learn new IT systems.
Desirable
1. Experience identifying and participating in quality improvement initiatives to improve workplace practices
