We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Lead for our friendly workshop crew based in Mackay. Experienced Boilermakers with a demonstrated eye for detail and familiarity with heavy fabrication are also welcome to apply. In this role the Quality Control Lead is responsible for performing regular quality inspections and controlling all job documentation in the Mainetec QLD Workshop.
Requirements:
· Minimum requirement of Certificate 3 – Fabrication or equivalent (Cert 4 highly regarded)
· Weld Australia Welding Supervisor AS2214 or AS1796 Cert. 10 or higher desirable
· WTIA IWI Certificate desirable
· Sound working knowledge and experience with Welding Procedure Specifications
· Understanding of ISO 9001, 9606 and 3001
· Minimum 2 years' experience in heavy steel fabrication industry
· Experience and knowledge of mining attachments including buckets and trays
· Good accuracy and attention to detail
· Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word Skills
· Good organisational and time management skills
· Problem solving skills
· Good interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral
· Ability to coach and mentor individuals
Primary Duties:
· Oversee all welding activities and regularly inspect to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards such as AS1554.1 - 5, ISO 9001,9606, 3001 and client specifications.
· Check quality at each stage: incoming material inspection, fit-up, welding, dimensional checks, coatings, final inspections.
· Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for weld defects, NDT failures, and dimensional deviations.
· Ensure that non-conformances are resolved within a reasonable time frame to ensure the shortcomings do not re-occur.
· Monitor and record calibration for company equipment.
· Ensure proper documentation control for quality records, traceability, material test reports (MTRs), and welding logs.
