Jerrabomberra High School – Queanbeyan, NSW. The school opened in 2023 and is expected to enrol approximately 420 students by 2026.
Number of Positions
2 full‐time positions (1.0 FTE each). Permanent part‐time appointments are also available if a reduced FTE is indicated.
Total Remuneration Package
Base salary ranges between $90,177 and $137,861 per annum, plus leave loading and employer contribution to superannuation. The total package is valued at up to $156,253.00 depending on experience.
Benefits
Eligible applicants receive a relocation support payment of $5,000 to $8,000. Other benefits include the full salary package, leave loading and superannuation contributions.
School Overview
Jerrabomberra High School is a new, comprehensive, co‐educational high school located in the township of Jerrabomberra on the border of NSW and the ACT, about 15 km from Canberra International Airport. The curriculum is innovative, inquiry‐based and project‐based, with a strong focus on modern, well‐resourced learning spaces.
Our culture is inclusive, centring on ensuring every student is able to co‐design their learning journey. The school provides a learning environment based on high expectations and believes all students will grow during their time here. The Big Picture Learning design is offered to students from Year 9 upwards. Community engagement works closely with parents/carers and local agencies to support students' academic, emotional and social development.
Responsibilities
* Develop, implement and evaluate innovative learning programs that meet the individual needs of students in the school's supported learning setting (Thrive).
* Ensure appropriate learning supports and resources are in place for all students.
* Collaborate with a team of full‐time School Learning Support Officers to deliver personalised learning and support plans (PLaSP) negotiated with students, parents and stakeholders at the start of each year and reviewed annually.
* Maintain positive relationships with students, families, staff, community and external agencies.
Qualifications & Experience
* Approval to teach special education, or experience teaching students with complex needs including autism and emotional disturbance.
* Well‐developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to work in a collaborative team.
* Full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education (or commenced application at the time of applying).
Conditions & FTE
* Applicants must have an unconditional full approval to teach in NSW.
* Applicants offering a reduced FTE must indicate the desired FTE prior to submission; the chosen FTE is final and will not be altered post‐offer.
* Full‐time appointments are the default unless a specific reduced FTE is stated.
