Salary: Level 5 - $86,943 - $99,864 (pro-rata) p.a. plus 17% super

Join a vibrant team delivering exceptional set designs for the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music's performing arts programmes. You will support students, collaborate with designers, and help ensure smooth operations during performances while upholding high safety and creative standards.


Your next career opportunity

As a Production Workshop Officer - Set Construction, you will be at the forefront of delivering set designs, supporting students, collaborating with designers, and ensuring the operational success of performances. You will contribute to safety, quality, and creativity in our artistic endeavours.


Your responsibilities

* Support Teaching and Learning: Provide technical guidance for set construction, scenic elements, and props, ensuring professional standards in the workshop.
* Facilitate Workshop Operations: Oversee student activities, manage equipment and safety protocols, and collaborate with production teams for successful project delivery.
* Ensure Health and Safety Compliance: Implement risk management practices and contribute to compliance with university policies and regulations.
* Manage Budgets and Resources: Monitor and reconcile expenditure against project budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation.


You may be a great fit if

You will have a strong background in performing arts set construction, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve artistic excellence.


You may also

* Have a degree or equivalent professional experience in performing arts or set construction.
* Possess industry experience in theatre production workshops or performance venues.
* Demonstrate proficiency in carpentry and basic metalwork techniques.
* Have strong project and time management skills to meet production deadlines.
* Be knowledgeable in safe handling of chemicals and materials in a workshop environment.

Programs and Operations

The Programs and Operations (P&O) team within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music delivers services, support and technical expertise to academics, students, professional staff and stakeholders. The team operates mainly at the Southbank Campus and the Parkville Campus, and oversees program planning, delivery, and operational functions across production and technical areas, event coordination, studios, asset and resource management, facilities maintenance and OH&S.
