About The Role
This organisation is looking for an experienced, proactive, and detail-oriented Accountant who can confidently manage a broad range of financial responsibilities across multiple entities. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, reconciliations, and operational accounting, with the ability to provide accurate commercial insights and support strategic decision-making.

Requirements
* Australian Citizen ONLY
* Approximately 5 years' accounting experience required
* Previous agriculture industry experience
* Attendance at the Canberra office approximately once per month for around three days
* Occasional travel to operational sites throughout Queensland approximately once every six months
* Ability and willingness to Undergo Police Check

Key Responsibilities
* Accounting Operations & Financial Control
* Review and approve accounts payable coding, GST treatment, and payment batches
* Maintain fixed asset registers, including depreciation and reconciliations
* Prepare revenue, intercompany, and expense recovery invoices
* Complete monthly and annual balance sheet reconciliations
* Support month-end and year-end close activities
* Assist with bank reconciliations and accounts payable processes as required
* Manage the end-to-end cost accounting process, including overhead allocation, variance analysis, and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) reporting to support profitability planning and commercial decision-making
* Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to monitor, analyse, and optimise product and operational costs across the business
* Provide insights into cost drivers, inventory movements, and operational efficiencies to support continuous improvement initiatives
* Assist in developing and maintaining costing models, ensuring accuracy and alignment with financial and operational objectives
Management Reporting
* Prepare monthly management and cash flow reports
* Analyse performance against budgets and forecasts
* Ensure reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with group requirements
* Monitor and report on financial receipts and operational performance
Financial Planning & Analysis
* Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes
* Analyse variances and identify financial risks and trends
* Provide financial modelling and ad-hoc analysis to support decision-making
* Deliver meaningful insights to operational and finance leadership teams
Compliance & Financial Reporting
* Prepare BAS returns and quarterly statutory reporting requirements
* Support year-end audit processes and financial reporting activities
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax obligations, and internal policies
Stakeholder Engagement
* Build strong relationships with finance teams and operational stakeholders
* Collaborate effectively across multiple business functions
* Participate in both online and in-person meetings as required
Skills & Experience Required
* Previous experience in a similar Accountant position
* Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, and budgeting
* Experience with ERP systems and accounting platforms
* Solid understanding of GST, BAS, and compliance reporting
* Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
* Professional presentation and high attention to detail
* Experience in fast-paced or multi-entity environments highly regarded
