Overview
District Sales Manager - District 1 (Northern Arizona) - The Arizona Lottery is seeking a dynamic and experienced District Sales Manager to lead a team of Territory Sales Managers in driving lottery sales performance across assigned regions. This role is key in growing market presence through strategic retailer recruitment, merchandising, training, and sales event planning. The ideal candidate will have strong supervisory skills, a data-driven mindset, and a passion for developing and executing retail sales strategies.
LOCATION: Nothern Arizona (Flagstaff, Kingman, Lake Havasu)
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
What You'll Do
* Supervises Territory Sales Managers engaging in recruitment of new lottery retailers, merchandising lottery tickets, implementing specific sales strategies, generating sales through store level promotions and training retailers.
* Ensures acceptable levels of service and excellence in service is delivered to retail partners.
* For development of strategies to increase store level sales, the Supervisor analyzes sensitive sales information compiled for all lottery retailers. Using sales information, identify opportunities to increase sales at store level and implement strategies to increase sales at store level.
* Routinely visits retail locations to observe merchandising and point of sale execution at store level. Conducts one-on-one and team training with Territory Managers to ensure excellence in execution at store level.
* Utilizing sensitive sales information, assists in the preparation of sales programs for retailers and Territory Managers designed to increase sales. Assist in development and execution of sales driving events to increase sales at retail locations.
* Independently creates and provides sales and marketing information updates on performance of Corporate Accounts through a variety of venues to monitor account progress.
* Ensure feedback from corporate customers is reported back to Lottery management and Lottery vendors in the implementation of programs, the introduction of products and the development of promotions at the corporate accounts.
* Resolves complicated retailer and player issues. Assists in screening, interviewing, hiring, and training Territory Managers.
* Other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
* Bachelor's degree in business management or related area.
* This position does require a valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
* Minimum of 3-5 years of retail sales experience, with a demonstrated ability to drive revenue through store-level strategies and promotions.
* 2-3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a sales-driven environment, preferably managing field-based or territory teams.
* Proven experience in recruiting, training, and developing staff, particularly sales or merchandising personnel.
* Experience working with or managing corporate accounts, including conducting business-to-business (B2B) presentations and implementing multi-location strategies.
* Demonstrated ability to analyze sales data, identify trends, and develop actionable strategies to increase sales performance.
* Familiarity with retail environments including franchised, cooperative-operated, and independently owned outlets.
* Experience collaborating with internal departments, vendors, and external stakeholders to deliver sales initiatives and support.
* Prior experience in resolving retailer and customer service issues effectively and diplomatically.
* Experience participating in or leading cross-functional initiatives or strategy meetings is a plus.
