Wodens est.1958 is a long-established Canberra region based civil contractor who has built significant amount local infrastructure. Wodens has a large direct employed workforce and fleet of plant and equipment. Wodens is seeking a highly motivated HSEQ manager to join the team.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and verify the implementation of the corporate Integrated Management System, Project Management Plans and associated sub-plans to the requirements of the Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner, ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 31000.
* Undertake site inspections, safety walks, project audits, and other site-visits in accordance with plan schedules and operational need,
* Effectively communicate management system requirements to employees, staff, subcontractors and customers,
* Liase with regulators such as Worksafe ACT and the Environmental Protection Authority and ensure the timely closure of corrective actions,
* Undertake Incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and management system reviews.
* Undertake company and site inductions of staff and subcontractors,
* Maintain corporate legal register, review changing statutory requirements and industry guidance,
* Organise corporate management meetings and workers' consultative committee meetings.
* Organise employee training bookings and maintain registers and records of training,
Desirable, but not essential:
* Strong knowledge of the Planning Act, Environmental legislation and instruments and a demonstrable track record of drafting Construction Environmental Management Plans for approval with relevant Planning Authorities (PCS, Heritage, EPA etc).
* Competency in drafting Erosion and Sediment Control Plans to NSW Specification (RUSLE, Drain design etc),
* Formal training in confined space risk assessment.
* Cert IV Training & Assessment.
