Fire Safety Solutions Expert
We are seeking a highly motivated Fire Safety Engineer to join our team in Brisbane.
As a Fire Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting fire risk analysis, code compliance assessments and conceptual fire safety designs. You will also perform fire hazard assessment design calculations and ensure plans are compliant with relevant codes and standards.
You will contribute to or prepare technical reports in various phases of engineering and support site field visits to obtain information and data to support projects.
Additionally, you will participate in and contribute to design reviews, prepare, review and issue material requisition for different mechanical equipment and prepare, review and evaluate vendor technical bid evaluation and technical queries for different mechanical equipment.
Responsibilities include providing services across several sectors including mining, power, nuclear, thermal, infrastructure and oil and gas, preparing hazardous area classification, performing hydraulic calculation report, providing inputs for piping and instrument diagram (P&ID), performing fire and gas location layout and philosophy and performing consequence modeling and gas dispersion study.
Desirable software skills include DNV PHAST and SAFETI, PIPENET, AFT Fathom and CFD modeling.
Qualifications include full time Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited College or University, post graduate qualification in Fire Engineering is considered a strong asset, aptitude towards alternative compliance approaches, and thinking outside the box, strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and relationship management skills, problem-solving and decision-making skills, experience between 8to 20 years, ability to work alone or in a team under minimum supervision, ability to understand and achieve cost, quality, and timeline goals, ability to maintain good business relations with the various parties involved in the project, time management skills and good adaptation to change, strong communication skills and ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships in complex and changing environments, experience within a large project, multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM environment, experience in metals and minerals processing industry would be an advantage, thorough knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations, and codes pertinent to the design and systems related to the project, understanding of other discipline interfaces and requirements, good understanding of the flow of information and data within a project environment, understanding of commercial management as it relates to the equipment package or contract, understanding of construction and commissioning methodologies for the discipline, familiar with operability and maintainability reviews, HAZOP studies, commitment to achieving engineering excellence, ability to apply technical knowledge to various practical problems, desire to learn and continually develop, collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions.
