We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fabrication Workshop Manager to lead our welding and fabrication operations. In this role, you will oversee a team of professionals, maintain quality and safety standards, and ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, supervise, and coordinate a team of welders, fabricators, and apprentices.
* Oversee fabrication jobs from drawings through to completion.
* Create and manage weld maps, fabrication schedules, and WPS documentation.
* Conduct welder qualification testing and manage weld/material traceability.
* Review drawings and ensure all work meets quality and specification requirements.
* Liaise with project managers and engineers to coordinate workflow.
* Manage yard and logistics operations to ensure efficient material handling, dispatch, and deliveries.
* Enforce workplace safety procedures and ensure compliance with Australian Standards.
* Assist with NDT requests and review reports for compliance.
* Support HR functions including training, mentoring apprentices, and performance management.
* Participate in scheduling and process improvement initiatives.
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
Trade qualification in Fabrication or Boilermaking is essential. A minimum of 5+ years' experience in welding and structural/piping supervision or workshop management is also required. Strong trade technical skills in STT (GMAW-S), FCAW, GTAW, and MMAW/SMAW processes are necessary. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is mandatory.
