* Salary commencing at $85,114.74 per annum, plus 12% superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.

The Opportunity
Moonee Valley City Council is seeking a motivated and community-minded Traffic and Transport Engineer to join our Engineering and Capital Works Delivery Department. In this role, you will play a key part in investigating and resolving traffic engineering, transport planning, parking and road safety matters that make a real impact on community mobility and wellbeing. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, contribute to the development and implementation of major Council strategies, including the MV2040 Connected Action Plan, Integrated Transport Strategy, Municipal Parking Strategy, Walking and Cycling Strategy and Transport Safety Strategy.
Key Responsibilities
* Investigate traffic engineering, transport planning, parking and road safety requests and provide evidence-based recommendations.
* Prepare technical reports for Council, Senior Management and internal/external referrals including planning applications, Construction Management Plans and Traffic Management Plans.
* Assess development proposals against relevant planning schemes, engineering standards and Codes of Practice.
* Implement and coordinate actions across key Council strategies including the Council Plan, MV2040 Connected Action Plan, Integrated Transport Strategy and Municipal Parking Strategy.
* Arrange, undertake and analyse traffic, transport, parking and road safety surveys to inform appropriate controls and treatments.
* Assist in the development of policies, strategies and plans relating to traffic engineering, transport planning, parking and road safety.
* Prepare concept plans, design briefs and assess detailed designs for transport engineering projects.
* Liaise effectively with community members, government agencies, public transport operators and internal stakeholders.
* Maintain accurate records of traffic, transport, road safety and parking requests and provide regular project reporting.
* Support sustainable and active travel initiatives, including cycling, walking and broader sustainable transport projects.
* Provide high-quality customer service and respond to enquiries in a timely and professional manner.
* Coordinate and manage consultants and contractors as required.
Skills & Experience
You will bring tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, Town/Urban Planning or a related discipline, along with knowledge of traffic and transport engineering principles and the ability to analyse data, develop solutions and prepare high-quality technical reports. You will be skilled in time management, prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines, with strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication abilities to work effectively with community members, government agencies and internal stakeholders. Your experience with AutoCAD, GIS and MS Office, along with an understanding of relevant legislation, road safety principles, community consultation processes and integrated transport planning, will support you in delivering effective outcomes. A current Victorian driver's licence is required.
