Our client is a well-respected, not-for-profit organisation that plays an important role in supporting and advocating for its members across Australia.

Operating from a collaborative office in Canberra, the organisation has a close-knit team environment where people work together across finance, HR and operational functions to deliver meaningful outcomes.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional seeking a flexible part-time role with genuine variety.

Covering an initial three-month period, you will take ownership of key finance and payroll activities while supporting the broader operations of the organisation.

The position offers flexibility around working arrangements, exposure to both finance and HR functions, and the opportunity to work within a collaborative not-for-profit environment.

There is also potential for the initial contract to be extended or ultimately become a permanent position for the right candidate.

The Role

The role is ideally three days per week, although flexible working arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.

You will provide additional support across the organisation's finance and payroll functions.

Joining a small operational team, you will work closely with finance and business stakeholders to ensure critical finance processes continue to run smoothly.

As an Accounts and Payroll Officer, your responsibilities include:

  • Managing Accounts Payable activities through QuickBooks
  • Processing fortnightly payroll for approximately 30 employees using KeyPay / Employment Hero
  • Completing corporate credit card reconciliations through FlexiPurchase
  • Assisting with payroll tax administration as needed
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and reconciliations
  • Assisting with month-end and ad hoc finance tasks as required

The Ideal Person

You are a practical and reliable finance professional who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day operations of a business.

You take pride in accuracy, enjoy working independently, and are comfortable managing competing priorities within a small team environment.

You may come from a finance, payroll, bookkeeping or finance administration background and have experience across Accounts Payable, payroll processing and reconciliations.

Most importantly, you are someone who can quickly learn new systems and processes, work autonomously with minimal supervision, and contribute positively to a collaborative team culture.

Salary / Rate

  • $55/hr – $62/hr + Super
  • Flexible work arrangements
  • Free parking available
