Primary objective

To provide high level information management, quality assurance, coordination, secretariat advice and support for the School

Operations unit including responsibility for the continual improvement of quality correspondence and high-level

documentation by providing assistance and guidance regarding the development, syntax, and style of all documentation.

Context statement

School Operations provides operational advice and services to government schools, tailored to their needs and focused on

supporting their improvement agenda. School Operations ensures the implementation of NT and Commonwealth

Government policies and department strategic priorities in NT Government schools. The position works within a small

collaborative team based in Darwin that supports all regions and contributes to the priorities and strategic direction of the

Department of Education and Training.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide high level editorial services including the preparation and coordination of briefs, reports, including profiles of all

NT Government schools, complex correspondence and responses to whole-of-government reporting in a timely manner.

2. Contribute to and promote the continuous improvement of quality correspondence including professional learning for

the division in line with established processes and guidelines.

3. Liaise effectively and professionally with internal staff at all levels within the department, as well as external stakeholders,

ensuring appropriate information access, management and use.

4. Manage information collation, analysis and reporting to ensure, accurate, and reliable program and performance activity

information.

5. Undertake project work and provide secretariat support across the division as required.

6. Other duties as delegated by line management.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated interpretive and analytical skills including exceptional demonstrated ability to quality assure written

documentation and reports and write clearly and accurately in plain language.

2. Ability to discern sensitive issues, maintain confidentiality, work under pressure, manage changing and competing tasks

and priorities within required timeframes while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy.

3. Demonstrated high level communication skills, political astuteness, tactfulness and the ability to manage issues of a

sensitive and confidential nature.

4. The ability to build and maintain effective networks both orally and including an ability to write for diverse audiences

comprising of a range of internal and external stakeholders from diverse cultures.

1. Knowledge of and ability to interpret relevant legislation, protocols, policies, procedures and systems.
2. Demonstrated ability to provide effective support and advice about established guidelines, procedures and protocols,

including style and syntax.
