We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Advisor – Media, Issues & Reporting to support a major government infrastructure program in Queensland's North Coast region.
This is an excellent opportunity for a communications professional with strong media relations, social media strategy, and issues management experience to work on a high-profile program delivering impactful outcomes for the community.
The Appointment
In this role, you will lead media and communication activities across the program, including media relations, social media management, issues monitoring, and strategic storytelling. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure messaging is clear, timely, and aligned with program objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the development and implementation of media, social media, and storytelling strategies
* Identify and deliver positive media opportunities showcasing program achievements
* Coordinate responses to media enquiries and develop key messaging and briefing materials
* Oversee social media content planning, creation, scheduling, and publishing
* Monitor media coverage and social sentiment, providing reporting and insights
* Track and escalation emerging issues and risks
* Collaborate with internal teams and contractors to ensure consistent messaging and communication outcomes
The Appointee
* Strong experience in media relations and communications strategy
* Proven ability to manage media enquiries and develop messaging for complex issues
* Experience managing social media platforms and content
* Excellent writing and stakeholder engagement skills
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
* Experience working within government or large infrastructure programs (highly regarded)
* Experience in communications, media, PR, or journalism
* Tertiary qualifications in communications or a related field (desirable)
