Overview
Re Place (The Village Project) – Summer Hill NSW.
Re Place is a small not-for-profit that works directly with the community in circular economy and clothing/textile waste.
We work through each "Re" beginning with "Rethink" and with the last option being "Recycling".
We need help across 5 days, even if you only have a couple of hours to spare.
There are 3 main roles:
DROP OFFS
Wednesdays: 1:30 pm to 6:30 pmSaturdays: 10 am to 4 pm
Key duties:
Set up and pack down
Customer service: explaining how the drop off process works
Assessing items for damage
Categorizing items into piles for 'reuse', 'repurpose' and 'recycle'
Weighing items and entering data
PRELOVED CLOTHES SHOP
Wednesdays 10 am to 6 pmThursdays 10 am to 5 pmFridays 10 am to 5 pmSaturdays 10 am to 5 pmSundays 1 pm to 4 pm
Key duties:
Set up and pack down
Explaining to customers how Re Place operates
Selling clothes and handling cash and card payments
Weighing items as they are sold and recording data
Tagging items
Hanging items and putting them on racks
Keeping the shop clean and tidy
Tidying clothes racks
Keeping the change rooms tidy
WAREHOUSE/SHOP GENERAL HAND
Wednesdays 10 am to 6 pmThursdays 10 am to 5 pmFridays 10 am to 5 pmSaturdays 10 am to 5 pmSundays 1 pm to 4 pm
Key duties:
Prepping items for repurposing
Prepping items for recycling
Tagging items
Hanging items and putting them on racks
Keeping the shop clean and tidy
Tidying clothes racks
Keeping the change rooms tidy
Commitment / Time Required
Regular – less than 6 months.
Minimum of 2 hours per shift, ideally at least one shift per month.
We need volunteers between these hours:
Wednesdays 10 am to 6 pm
Thursdays 10 am to 5 pm
Fridays 10 am to 5 pm
Saturdays 10 am to 5 pm
Sundays 1 pm to 4 pm
Training
We will provide all training including assessing items for reuse vs recycling, how to use the scales and systems we use to track waste, how to set up, OH&S.
