We're representing one of Australia's most highly regarded and influential specialist development design consultancies, with a multi-office presence and a strong reputation in the local market. With a collaborative culture and a proven track record in shaping high-profile development projects, they are seeking an experienced Team Lead - Design to join their Melbourne office.
The Role
As Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading and engaging a team of designers, overseeing delivery of intermediate to complex projects, and ensuring technical excellence across all outputs. You will play a key role in resource planning, mentoring, and client engagement, while also contributing to strategic planning and continuous improvement of design standards. This role offers significant autonomy and visibility, with a clear pathway into broader organisational influence and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, manage, and mentor a team of designers, fostering accountability and high performance.
* Oversee design programs, project resourcing, and delivery to ensure quality and timeliness.
* Undertake detailed design and master planning on a variety of complex projects.
* Review and verify engineering outputs, including plans, reports, and modelling.
* Manage client relationships and represent the consultancy with external stakeholders.
* Contribute to strategic planning, design innovation, and process improvement.
* Conduct performance reviews, ensuring development, training, and support for your team.
* Participate in leadership, resource, and budget meetings.
About You
* Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent.
* Registered and Chartered Engineer with current MRWA Das accreditation.
* At least 8 years' local experience, including significant team leadership exposure.
* Advanced technical knowledge across specialist areas such as sports, VicRoads, WSUD, and complex modelling.
* Strong office management, leadership, and mentoring skills.
* Excellent communication skills with proven ability to engage clients and stakeholders.
* Permanent permission to work in Australia.
