About Us
Katherine Town Council is the Municipal Council for Katherine, NT. We provide services to the Katherine community relating to rates, roads, infrastructure, animal control, waste management and other core essential services. Katherine is the fourth largest township in the Northern Territory and the next major regional centre after Darwin and Palmerston. It is a critical crossroads for Northern Australia, connecting Perth to Darwin from the west and Adelaide to Darwin through the north/south highway and rail corridor. The council serves around 8,000 people in the municipality, with an additional 2,000 from the local RAAF Airbase, making over 10,000 residents and workers. Our community is at the centre of everything we do, and we work to make Katherine welcoming, vibrant, family‑friendly, and inclusive.
