Overview
Vault Minerals is a dynamic and cohesive company formed from the merger of Red 5 Limited and Silverlake Resources. Based in Australia, Vault Minerals aims to unlock value, expand operations, and deliver larger, longer-life, and lower-cost gold production. Deflector Operation comprises two high-grade, narrow vein Gold/Copper mines located 160km east of Geraldton, with ore hosted in structurally complex lodes (the Deflector and Deflector Southwest deposits).
The Role:
As an Environmental Technician, you will play a key role in the day-to-day implementation of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and support a range of monitoring, compliance, and site management activities. You will work closely with the Environmental Advisor and operational teams to drive environmental performance and support regulatory compliance across the site. This role suits an Environment student or someone passionate about environmental sustainability who wants hands-on experience in a dynamic mining environment.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation of the site’s Environmental Management Plan (EMP)
- Complete environmental monitoring programs for groundwater, surface water, dust, vegetation, soil, and other compliance requirements
- Conduct workplace inspections and input actions into INX to ensure alignment with the EMP
- Review, manage, and store environmental data to ensure accuracy and accessibility for internal stakeholders
- Assist with the accurate collation and reporting of NPI (National Pollutant Inventory) and NGERS (National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme) data
- Conduct weed and feral animal control activities as required
- Update the weekly site-based environment report when on shift
- Operate within allocated environmental budget parameters
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Deflector Environmental Management System (EMS) through field-based insights
- Develop a sound understanding of environmental compliance obligations and provide advice on statutory/regulatory monitoring requirements
- Support investigations into environmental incidents, hazards, and corrective actions
- Engage and collaborate with internal departments and escort external stakeholders during site visits or audits
- Assist in implementing the site’s Mine Closure Plan and associated activities
- Support cultural heritage management and participate in cultural heritage survey activities
- Deliver training and awareness initiatives to promote EMP compliance and environmental best practices
About You
- Qualifications in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field (or working towards) (preferred but not essential)
- Prior experience in a site-based environmental role in mining or heavy industry (preferred)
- Familiarity with environmental monitoring techniques and tools (preferred)
- Competent in data collection, analysis, and reporting systems
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive, hands-on attitude
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Valid manual driver’s licence (essential)
