About the Role:
This role is responsible for coordinating field operations on research sites including but not exclusive to, site preparation & packing, planting, assessments and harvest of trials. The role is also responsible for the management of field equipment and maintenance.
This role will be based out of our Horsham Research Site and will be responsible for the Key Result Areas including:
* Plan and coordinate with the Field / Trials Operations to execute field operations at research trials and assessment tasks
* Plan and coordinate the execution of ground preparation, irrigation, spraying and rotations at all research site locations
* Sowing, harvest & maintenance of all research site locations
* Packing third party trial seed and/or STRIKE and agronomy trials and extension trials.
* Plan and execute maintenance of all machinery and ensure records are kept up to date.
* Research of new machinery and equipment required to support the execution of operations
* Working with Technical Support Manager to plan coordinate the summer crop and canola trialing program
* Operate planting and harvesting machinery
* Basic maintenance of machinery
* Assist with the collection and processing of trial samples and field assessments as well as data entry.
* Ensure all field regulatory requirements of the Office of Gene Technology Regulator and Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority are met
* Oversee the site management and safety. Ensure that work instructions and appropriate training are regularly undertaken and recorded appropriately.
* Actively participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace culture.
About You:
A successful candidate in this role will have the following education, skills, experience and personal attributes:
* Demonstrated trial management & field-based experience supporting plant research experience
* Must have a current HC license
* Current forklift license
* Chemical user accreditation
* Experience operating farm machinery, particularly with GPS capability
* Knowledge of trial design, statistics, and data analysis.
* Advanced digital literacy with experience in the Microsoft suite
* Strong skills in stakeholder engagement, communication and facilitation
* A self-starter, problem solver, excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Strong field trial execution and small-plot equipment skills.
* Project management and relationship-building skills.
