Role Overview
The Contract Manager works directly with the Project and Bid teams to oversee contract negotiations, tender outcomes, and the lifecycle of two prime contracts and associated work orders.
Position is part of the Legal, Contracts and Compliance team in Thales Australia and is a permanent full‐time role.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
* Lead contract negotiations with customers and subcontractors to establish mutually beneficial agreements aligned with Thales goals.
* Support bids by drafting and reviewing commercial documents, including review of RFTs and tender input.
* Work with Project Managers to identify and manage potential contractual risks throughout project lifecycle.
* Collaborate with cross‐functional teams to monitor and analyse project budgets and expenditures.
* Provide commercial and contractual advice to stakeholders, interpreting contract terms and enforcing compliance.
* Anticipate and address changes in scope, timeline, or profitability.
* Prepare contract artefacts such as notices, claims, change proposals, IP deeds and licenses.
* Maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
* Maintain accurate records of all contract activities and correspondence.
* Generate reports and update senior management on compliance, risks, and dispute areas.
Key Knowledge & Experience
* Minimum 10 years in contract management within complex, high‐value contract environments, preferably ICT or defense.
* Experience with ASDEFCON bids and contract negotiations.
* Strong understanding of project delivery principles, contract law, pricing, and business acumen.
* Excellent client liaison and people‐management skills.
* Advanced negotiating, analytical, financial and numeracy skills.
* Track record in providing contract support that facilitates successful project outcomes.

Security & Clearance
Applicants must hold Australian citizenship and be eligible for a baseline defence security clearance. Additional clearances such as DTCA, ITAR and EAR may be required.
