Lumos Diagnostics is a medtech company with operations in both California and Melbourne. The company specializes in delivering rapid, cost‑effective, and end‑to‑end point‑of‑care diagnostic test solutions that support healthcare professionals in accurately diagnosing and managing medical conditions. Lumos also provides customized assay development and manufacturing services for point‑of‑care tests, along with proprietary digital reader platforms designed to target infectious and inflammatory diseases.
About the role:
As our most senior technical product authority, you will be responsible for the technical ownership and delivery of Lumos Diagnostics' lateral flow reader, cartridge and software application platforms. You will work closely with internal teams, clients, and external development partners to architect and deliver commercially viable reader solutions. You'll drive the technical product strategy, guide platform evolution, and oversee execution across multiple development programs.
This is a highly collaborative, hands‑on role suited to someone who thrives at the intersection of engineering, product strategy, and stakeholder leadership.
What you'll do:
Platform Innovation & Product Development
Lead development and delivery of reader, cartridge, and software products.
Assess technical feasibility of requirements and provide informed recommendations.
Drive early‑stage platform innovation and enhancements.
Define and evolve the technical product strategy and long‑term roadmap.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues and guide engineering decision‑making.
Ensure high‑quality technical documentation and regulatory compliance.
Program Execution & Partner Leadership
Oversee delivery of platform programs from concept to manufacturing transfer.
Coordinate cross‑functional teams, suppliers, and third‑party partners to achieve agreed milestones across multiple time-zones.
Proactively manage risks, timelines, and dependencies.
Provide expert support on complex reader issues in development or the field.
Business & IP Contribution
Act as a technical advisor in business development activities.
Provide input on project estimates, timelines, and resource planning.
Identify and protect new intellectual property and stay across competitive technologies.
Typical Experiences:
We are looking for someone that brings the following skills and experiences:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline
Proven experience in technical product development, engineering, or technical product management within regulated environments (medical devices/diagnostics/optical systems preferred).
Demonstrated ownership of end‑to‑end product development.
Proven ability to be the senior technical authority on complex systems.
Experience leading multiple concurrent development programs.
Strong background working with suppliers and third‑party development partners.
Working knowledge of ISO 13485 and FDA QSR.
Excellent problem‑solving and analytical capabilities.
Outstanding communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
