Job Description
Join our CMT team in Malaga and support our growing operations in concrete, aggregate, masonry, and rock mechanics testing. We are seeking Assistant Geotechnicians with hands-on experience or a strong interest in materials testing, especially in strength, durability, and compliance testing of construction materials.
This role will involve field sampling and laboratory-based testing in line with AS 1012, AS 1141, AS 4456, AS 4133, and other relevant Australian Standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and process samples of concrete, aggregate, rock, and masonry for laboratory testing.
* Conduct field and lab-based tests such as:
* Concrete slump and cylinder casting (AS ,
* Aggregate grading and flakiness index (AS 1141 series)
* Rock uniaxial compression and point load index (AS 4133 series)
* Masonry block compressive strength (AS
* Assist with equipment setup, calibration, and routine maintenance.
* Record, log, and communicate test results accurately.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and NATA-compliant work environment.
* Support other CMT tasks as required, including sampling, sample preparation, and field density testing.

Qualifications
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Certificate III or IV in Laboratory Techniques, Construction Materials Testing, or related field (preferred).
* Previous experience in concrete, aggregate, rock, or masonry testing (field or lab).
* Understanding of relevant Australian Standards (e.g., AS 1012, AS 1141, AS 4133, AS 4456).
* Physically fit and comfortable handling heavy materials and outdoor work.
* Current WA C Class Driver's Licence (required).
* White Card (preferred).
