We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help design and scale our backend platforms that underpin our lending business. This role sits at the heart of our technology stack, owning secure, scalable systems that make real financial decisions, and evolving those systems as we responsibly introduce artificial intelligence.
What You'll Do
* Working closely with our Engineering Manager, you will design and build secure, scalable backend platforms in Microsoft Azure that power our core lending and servicing products
* Build and operate systems that support automated decisioning and verification, with a strong focus on reliability, explainability, and auditability
* Work at the intersection of deterministic decisioning and emerging artificial intelligence, helping introduce AI-assisted capabilities safely and responsibly
* Develop policy-driven services that can be tested, audited, and evolved as automation and AI maturity increases
* Design resilient workflows that handle failures gracefully and support safe recovery
* Create well-designed APIs that integrate cleanly with Salesforce and other platforms
* Ensure customer and financial data is handled with security, privacy, and compliance by design
* Implement strong observability across systems, including logging, traceability, and monitoring
* Make thoughtful architectural decisions about system boundaries, responsibilities, and ownership
What You'll Bring
* 5+ years' experience building production backend systems
* Strong experience with Microsoft Azure (e.g. App Services, Functions, AKS, messaging services)
* Proven API design experience (REST, versioning, error handling)
* Strong backend development skills in .NET or Java
