Your role

The position will be part of the Cummins Graduate Program, which will be either technical role-based or a 2-year rotational role in engineering, where the employee will transition between teams within the engineering department. The Cummins Engineering team covers everything from diesel engines and generators to exciting new technology that includes fuel cells, batteries, electrolysers, and hydrogen combustion.

This role involves applying basic knowledge of engineering theories and practices in the areas of specification, design, development, evaluation, release, validation, and maintenance of new and current products/subsystems all throughout the product life cycle. You will be a part of the change to find solutions for customers while they continue to move forward to Destination Zero, the zero-emissions future where they continue to provide the power the world needs.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

* Problem investigation and resolution.
* Use engineering design principles and processes to execute technical projects.
* Work through business processes for product introduction or use discipline-specific specialized tools to support and enable high-quality decision-making.
* Obtain business inputs to deliver information and recommendations that lead to successful project decisions.
* Make decisions that progress projects forward without sacrificing project quality expectations through the application of academic knowledge and experience.
* Own problem resolution for moderately complex components, products, systems, subsystems, or services.
* Develop product and technology knowledge, and engage in the improvement of systems and processes, whilst executing solutions.
* Contribute effectively toward team goals and exhibit influence within a work group.
* Continue to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.


About you

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

* Relevant Undergraduate Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Aerospace, Mechanical design, and Material) completed in the 2 years preceding the start date for the Graduate role (Feb 2025).
* Excellent communication, with meticulous attention to detail.
* Excellent organisational and project management skills.
* Troubleshooting and strong problem-solving abilities.
* Enthusiasm, motivation and consistently driving for and achieving results, even under tough circumstances.
* The dedication to actively seek new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels.

Other highly regarded areas of success:

* Understanding and awareness of Engineering problem-solving tools and processes (FTA, FMEA, 8D's, 7Steps, SixSigma, 5Why's).
* The ability to interpret Technical Drawings (GD&T) AutoCAD, CREO, Inventor etc.
* Experience or exposure in project/product implementation.
