About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Officer is responsible for the day‐to‐day maintenance, repair and presentation of village buildings and common areas. This is a hands‐on role requiring initiative, attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving maintenance issues.
You will play a key role in ensuring the safety, functionality and overall presentation of the community while building positive working relationships with residents and team members.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance across buildings, common areas and plant/equipment
* Respond promptly to maintenance requests and urgent repair needs
* Complete minor repairs including carpentry, painting, plumbing and general handyman tasks
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities
* Monitor and manage maintenance supplies and equipment
* Coordinate contractors where required and oversee quality of work
* Uphold workplace health and safety standards
* Engage professionally with residents and team members
What We're Looking For
* Demonstrated experience in general maintenance, facilities or handyman roles
* Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
* Practical problem‐solving skills and a solutions‐focused mindset
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
* Good physical capability, including lifting and manual handling
* Clear communication skills and a customer service approach
* Willingness to complete a Police Check
* Experience in retirement living, residential property or facility maintenance
