The Housing Call Centre (HCC), based out of the Morwell GovHub, plays a key role in ensuring that public housing renters receive timely support for maintenance and housing needs.
About the Role
DFFH are looking for trade-qualified candidates to join their call-centre team as Technical Authorisation Officers to handle queries from contractors who are carrying out maintenance works on public properties and community buildings. The ideal candidate will have a trade background and strong building knowledge and aptitude to handle these enquiries to ensure the appropriate maintenance processes are followed. This role is ideal for a qualified tradesperson ready to step off the tools and move into an office-based position, while still applying their practical trade knowledge in a professional environment.
The role is classified as VPS4 with a salary range of $97,955 - $111,142 plus superannuation. it's a fixed-term full-time position (38hr work week) until 31/12/2026, with an anticipated start of late August 2025. Please note this role is also subject to a National Police Check.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Assess maintenance requests and contractor queries for vacant and responsive works on public housing properties
* Review and process contractor claims using your trade expertise and judgment
* Ensure maintenance work meets departmental standards and contract requirements
* Provide technical guidance to Housing Customer Services Officers where required
* Handle escalated calls and support stakeholders across the state
Skills and Experience
* Trade qualification in a construction industry discipline highly desirable (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, etc.)
* Tertiary qualification in property or construction management highly valued
* Strong verbal communication skills and confidence in key-decision making
* Ability to liaise withinternal & external stakeholders
* Keen interest in working in public service
