Project Overview: Bechtel is providing project and contract management services to Western Power on the Clean Energy Link Project – North Project. The project will strengthen the existing power network north of Perth to ensure it can connect and transport a greater supply of renewable energy to meet decarbonisation objectives. This involves upgrading the current mix of 132 kV and 330 kV lines in parts of the northern network. We are looking for people to join us on this exciting capital works program within an integrated team with our customer. Job Summary: In this role, you will lead a team and manage project cost estimating, analysis, and control activities. You will identify cost trends for management attention, support project organizational and administrative activities, and ensure work is completed as scheduled. Your data analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges, and your leadership will be essential to project success. Major Responsibilities: Responsible for cost estimating, analysis, and cost control activities for projects which require a high degree of technical skill. Manages the cost estimating, analysis, and control activities for a significant area within a project which requires a high degree of technical skilled experience Analyzes data to provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges. Develops and implements project requirements for cost control in accordance with established Bechtel and client contractual requirements, objectives, and procedures. Ensures work is completed as scheduled, supporting project organizational and administrative activities. Prepares cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons. Reviews identified cost trends for cost effectiveness and suggesting alternatives when appropriate. Maintains open communications with other organizations to support cost engineering analysis and control activities. Prepares and presents cost engineering information to management/client. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience Required Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated expertise in managing cost engineering functions, including cost estimation, cost control, and cost analysis, both onsite and within the home office. Proven ability to establish comprehensive criteria for Project Controls activities. Exhibits strong oral and written communication skills, with a proven track record of presenting cost engineering information effectively to management and clients. Adept at identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex problems. Proficiency with PC operating systems, with proficiency in several basic software applications. Proficiency with multiple discipline specific software applications currently used in Bechtel (ECOSYS and Microsoft Office Applications, for example). Knowledge of financial reporting systems and cost account codes,. Holds an advanced understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, particularly as executed by Bechtel, supported by specialized instruction and practical industry experience.
