St John NT is the Territory's leading provider in emergency medical response and preparedness, with a mission to save lives and build resilience to improve the safety and healthcare for all Territorians.
With more than 700 staff and volunteers, St John NT provides a range of services from ambulance services under contract to the Northern Territory Government, coordination of emergency medical responses, event health services and first aid assistance at community and major events through to nationally accredited first aid training, community education and first aid products and equipment.
Reporting to the CEO, this role leads the efficient, effective, and sustainable delivery of contemporary emergency road ambulance services across the NT, providing executive oversight of emergency road ambulance operations and ensuring performance aligns with organisational priorities, community expectations, and NT Government contractual obligations. Key result areas include but are not necessarily limited to:
Providing strategic leadership as a member of the Executive Leadership Team
Providing executive oversight of ambulance service delivery and performance
Ensuring strong clinical governance, quality and safety systems
Leading people, culture and workforce sustainability within Ambulance Services
Enabling change, innovation and system reform to meet evolving community needs
Providing sound financial and resource stewardship
Building and maintaining strategic relationships with the NT Government and other key stakeholders
As the successful candidate, you will be a dynamic and results focused leader who has successfully led large, multidisciplinary workforces and budgets and has demonstrated experience in leading effective governance, risk management, contractual performance oversight as well as organisational change and continuous improvement initiatives.
You will also possess highly developed communication, negotiation and influencing skills to clearly present complex and technical information, and to achieve positive outcomes in politically and operationally challenging and complex environments. The ability to exercise strong judgement and make strong decisions under pressure and uncertainty is also critical.
Previous executive or senior leadership experience within ambulance services, health, emergency services or a comparable complex operational environment is essential. Relevant tertiary qualifications as well as a current AHPRA registration as a Paramedic are also essential to the role.
