1 x 0.4 FTE (female 2 days/14 hrs per week, 14 months)

1 x 0.2 FTE (Male 1 day per week/7 hrs, 14 months)

The Primary Prevention MYP Grant program is a domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) primary prevention program based in Coffs Harbour, delivered by the NSW Multicultural Centre for Women's and Family Safety (the Adira Centre). The Centre promotes culturally appropriate, evidence-based and community informed responses to domestic, family and sexual violence.

The Primary Prevention Program (PPP) will work collaboratively with communities to develop culturally responsive strategies that challenge the immense stigma related to domestic, family and sexual violence against women.

About the Role

Reporting to the PPP Coordinator, the role of community facilitator focuses on engaging community members in decision-making processes, facilitating dialogue, and promoting collaboration among women and men who are ready to explore culturally responsive strategies that prevent violence.

The program is centred around the safety and wellbeing of community members and

implements best practice risk and safety planning.

We are looking for someone who has strong focus on building strong relationships, fostering collaboration, and engaging communities to address local needs and prevent violence. In this role you will be responsible for facilitating communication, organising consultations, empowering community members to explore culturally responsive strategies, supporting project implementation, monitoring progress, and advocating for community interests.

Essential Criteria

* Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in at least one Myanmar language, along with strong spoken and written English.
* Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to build trust and rapport with community members, work collaboratively within a multifunctional team, and engage effectively with diverse groups.
* Facilitation: Skilled in leading group discussions, managing meetings, and fostering active participation.
* Organisation: Highly organised with strong administrative skills to plan, coordinate, and manage community consultations and initiatives.
* Problem-Solving: Able to leverage community knowledge and insights to develop targeted, culturally responsive resources.
* Adaptability: Flexible and responsive to evolving community needs and priorities.

DESIRABLE:

* Experience in the community sector, with a strong understanding of community needs and dynamics.
* Proven ability to work in diverse settings, engaging effectively with multiple service providers and culturally diverse communities.
* Qualifications or demonstrated experience in community development and/or community education.
* Certificate of completion in DV-alert, or a willingness to obtain this certification.
