Position Available: Specialist Family Violence Practitioner
Employment Type:Permanent / Part-Time, 30 hrs per week (0.8FTE)
Location: Samaritan House, Mackay

Work Type: Hybrid (on-site and outreach)

Work Day/Hours: Tuesday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (negotiable)

Classification: SCHADS Award Level 5

Our services focus on prevention, restoration, and healing to provide specialised support to address immediate safety issues and provide advice, referrals, and connection to assist the recovery journey.

About the role:

We are seeking a dedicated Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to join our Mackay based Family Violence team. This hybrid role provides place-based case management support across both refuge and outreach services, assisting adult and child victim-survivors who are currently experiencing or have previously experienced family violence.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, safe, and effective support services that prioritise safety, recovery, and empowerment—guided by a feminist framework and The Salvation Army's values.

How you will make an impact:

* Provide trauma-informed, client-centred case management in line with TSA standards and models of care

* Build strong, trust-based relationships with clients that encourage empowerment, safety, and participation

* Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of client needs, risks, and goals from intake to exit

* Develop and implement individualised case plans in collaboration with clients, ensuring their active participation

* Facilitate access to appropriate support services, community resources, and advocate on behalf of clients where needed

* Maintain accurate, confidential client records in accordance with TSA procedures using internal systems

* Monitor and review case plans to ensure they remain responsive to changing needs or goals

* Identify and report risks and service gaps, escalating concerns to the Team Leader as required

* Actively contribute to service improvement initiatives and meet key performance indicators within required timeframes

* Participate in an on-call roster as part of the broader Family Violence team

What you will bring:

* Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Welfare (Social Sciences), Community Development or related field (essential)

* Demonstrated experience in case management within the family violence or related sectors

* Experience working with women and children affected by family violence is highly desirable

* Strong understanding of the dynamics of family violence and child well-being

* Exceptional time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently

* Current QLD driver's licence

* Valid Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card)
