The opportunity is for Ground Crewman Aircraft Support (GCAS) Instructors based at the Army Aviation Training Centre, Swartz Barracks, Oakey, QLD. The position commences February 2026 and requires Australian citizenship with the ability to obtain security clearance to Negative Vetting 1 level.
The Opportunity
At Boeing Defence Australia, we are seeking highly motivated individuals with a passion for aviation, specifically helicopters, to influence the next generation of aviation support staff. The GCAS Instructor will develop and deliver training for GCAS personnel in accordance with regulatory requirements and Defence standards.
- The GCAS instructor is responsible for the delivery of LMP training material at the School of Army Aviation, including the training and assessment of IETs.
- Perform duties using relevant Defence systems, publications and standards.
- Be responsive to the Army Aviation Training Centre and comply with International Traffic in Arms or Intellectual Property constraints.
Responsibilities
- Perform Qualified Assessor and Trade Testing Officer functions in addition to GCAS training within barracks and/or field environments.
- Review and amend courseware and handouts in line with policy.
- Assist with the review and amendment of LMP as directed.
- Assist in the review and authorisation of sections ePEX.
- Adhere to equity and diversity principles for the Australian context.
- Comply with Workplace Health and Safety legislation and the Defence Safety Manual.
- Follow Defence environmental management practices to ensure sustainable use of the environment.
- Ensure compliance with the Operational and Technical Airworthiness regulatory framework.
- Apply Army Aviation Risk Management philosophies to GCAS operations.
To be considered
- Aviation explosive operations supervisor or equivalent
- CERT IV TAE40116 or higher
- Bulk fuel qualification (L121) or equivalent
- Previous GCAS operating experience
- AVN FARP Operator (P )
Desirable
- L121 driver qualification (40M HX77) or heavy rigid licence
- CHEM ALERT 1-6 and related risk/product details
- Trained in Defence Aviation Non-Technical Skills
- Trained in Defence aviation and Military Risk Management
- Hazardous Chemicals Awareness
- Joint Fuels Inventory Management System (JFIMS)
- Hot Refuel Supervisor (after 12 months in trade)
- Airside Level 1 and 2 trained
- AVN ARMY Tow motor licence code
- Emergency management fundamentals
Must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain security clearance to Negative Vetting 1 level, as per Department of Defence requirements.
