The office of Senator the Hon Sue Lines is seeking applications for a full-time, ongoing Digital Communications/Media Adviser and a Parliamentary Adviser, based in the West Perth Electorate Office.About Senator LinesSenator Lines has been President of the Australian Senate since August 2022 and a Senator for Western Australia since 2013. Senator Lines was born in Western Australia attending Gosnells Primary School and Armadale Senior High School before obtaining a Bachelor of Education from Murdoch University.She is the first female Labor President of the Senate since Federation and the second only female President following the election of Liberal Senator Margaret Reid in 1996.As a Senator for WA, Senator Lines has travelled extensively throughout regional and rural areas meeting with First Nations women, farming groups, Aboriginal corporations, and community leaders.Our Team Values are: Reliability – Determination – Respect & Equality – Making a Difference – Humanity – Uncompromising – Passionate – Supportive – Role ModelsPosition OverviewA rare opportunity exists to work with the President of the Senate. Senator Lines is seeking an enthusiastic, highly skilled and politically switched on professional.You will be critical in supporting the Senator’s communications including social media profile, media limited to:Manage and grow the Senator’s online and social media presence.Design and produce digital and graphic content (e.g. Canva).Analyse engagement and performance metrics across platforms.Maintain and update the Senator’s website with speeches, media releases and transcripts.Support community events, capturing content and identifying digital opportunities.Assist with campaign communication strategies and local campaigning opportunities.Coordinate with stakeholders across government, community and party networks.Manage local and national media requests and interviews.Work with the Department of Parliamentary Services media unit.Accompany the Senator to official engagements.Promote, support and maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace culture.Regular interstate and Canberra travel may be required for this role, with occasional irregular work hours, particularly during parliamentary sitting weeks.Other duties as required to support the Parliamentarian and the effective operation of the Electorate Office.The successful Digital Communications/Media Adviser will possess the following essential skills, experience and attributes:Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Digital/Communications role.Highly experienced with social media content creation and management.Graphic design and digital publishing skills.Strong written communication skills.Video production and editing.Accomplished photography skills.Experience with web content management.Proven media relations experience and sound political judgement.Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.Demonstrated professional integrity and the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.A respectful demeanour when engaging with office staff and constituents.The key duties of the Parliamentary Adviser will include but are not limited to:Provide procedural and strategic advice to the President to support the smooth functioning of the Senate.Liaise with senior Senate officials (Clerk, Deputy Clerk) for procedural advice.Draft official correspondence to senators and internal parliamentary communications.Build and maintain trusted relationships with Party Whips and Senate leaders.Handle sensitive information with discretion.Prepare committee briefing materials for Labor senators.Promote, support and maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace culture.Regular interstate and Canberra travel may be required for this role, with occasional irregular work hours, particularly during parliamentary sitting weeks.Other duties as required to support the Parliamentarian and the effective operation of the Electorate Office.The successful Parliamentary Adviser will possess the following essential skills, experience and attributes:Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Discretion, maturity and the ability to manage confidential matters.A keen interest in parliamentary process and Senate procedure (training provided).A collaborative and proactive work ethic.Demonstrated professional integrity and the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.A respectful demeanour when engaging with office staff and constituents.Employment conditions:The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 which include:A commencing salary between $105,769 and $149,114 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.As the position requires reasonable additional hours of work, an additional allowance of $32,970 will be awarded in recognition of, and as compensation for, these hours.An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.Applicants should note the following:An initial probationary period of three months may apply and may be subject to extension.The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.The successful applicant will be required to comply with their obligations under the Behaviour Codes and Standards.For staff employed by a Minister or Parliamentary Secretary either in a personal or electorate staff position, it
