own and elevate the reporting & analytics operating model for our business.

Role Focus:

Lead Logan Water's
reporting & analytics operating model
—set standards and governance, run a clear prioritisation cadence with a single reporting calendar and service catalogue, and make trusted insights easy to access and act on.
Retire redundant practices
, champion automation, and build
AI/ML readiness
with ethical guardrails and auditable lineage to support internal and regulatory reporting.

We have an exciting opportunity for a
permanent full time Principal Data & Insights Analyst
to join the
Water Service Performance Branch
within Council.

This program drives Logan Water's operational digital transformation, ensuring the business has the systems, data, and frameworks needed for informed decision-making and efficient, end-to-end service delivery.

This position manages the information and reporting service, ensuring we have the right processes, tools, and guidelines to improve service delivery. You will provide technical and specialist expertise through reports and presentations that meet compliance and regulatory requirements. In addition to this, you will also offer these services to leaders and teams across Logan Water to support business operations.

Position responsibilities include:

* Take charge of how data and reports are managed and used—keeping systems clear, reliable, and easy for the business to use.
* Set priorities for what gets reported and when, so effort focuses on what matters most and work is not duplicated.
* Find faster, better ways to get information to decision‑makers—automating routine tasks and removing old, unnecessary steps.
* Build safe, ethical ways to use AI and machine learning, so reporting is trustworthy and meets all rules and standards.
* Turn complex data into clear stories and practical advice that guide smart decisions across the business.
* Collaborate closely with Council ICT, internal teams, and partners to keep data accurate, connected, and easy to access.
* Help others build skills and confidence with data—coaching, sharing knowledge, and fostering a culture of evidence‑based improvement.

Key indicators for success:

* Ownership and continuous improvement of the reporting & insights way of working—clear standards, visible priorities, and consistent, trusted outputs.
* Demonstrated ability to turn complex data into simple, actionable stories that guide decisions for leaders and frontline teams.
* Proven track record of streamlining and automating information flows, reducing manual effort, and lifting time to insight.
* AI/ML readiness mindset, including exposure to leveraging Generative AI for data interpretation and reporting (clear summaries, narratives) with ethics, privacy, and auditability in place.
* Effective collaboration across ICT, business teams, and vendors; influence without line authority to align priorities and drive adoption.
* Unwavering commitment to data quality and governance with compliance built in for regulatory and corporate reporting (e.g., National Performance Report (NPR)).
* Demonstrated capability in building data literacy and shared definitions—coaching, documenting, and encouraging a culture that uses data to improve outcomes.
* Basic programming skills in Python for data manipulation, automation, and exploratory analysis, with familiarity using platforms such as MS Azure to support analytics and AI/ML readiness.
* Ability to pass all pre-employment and background checks as required.
