About the Role
At Oz-Tac Engineering, we design and manufacture custom-built plant machinery for the timber and sawmilling industry and oil & gas sector, as well as structural steel projects for the construction industry. With a strong reputation for quality and reliability, we are expanding our team and looking for a motivated Project Cost Estimator to join us.
Working closely with our engineering, drafting, and production teams, you will ensure that all estimates are delivered on time and reflect both project requirements and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for plant machinery, oil & gas projects and structural steel projects.
* Review engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine scope.
* Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to gather accurate cost data.
* Evaluate material, labour, subcontractor, and manufacturing costs.
* Prepare tender submissions, budgets, and cost breakdowns.
* Monitor industry trends, pricing, and supply chain changes.
* Assist in developing strategies to improve estimating accuracy and project margins.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as an estimator in manufacturing, engineering, or structural steel.
* Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding, machining, and plant machinery.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* Proficiency in MS Office (Excel essential); experience with estimating software is advantageous.
* Relevant qualifications in engineering, construction management, or a related trade background preferred.
