* Clerk Grade 11/12 position with a salary range $149,739 - $173,174 per annum plus superannuation
* Ongoing role located in The Rocks, Sydney

About the role

The Associate Director, Policy and Corporate Strategy has broad responsibility for shaping and delivering key projects and advice across Destination NSW. You will lead strategic policy and strategy activities, oversee implementation, and ensure initiatives are delivered effectively and on time. A core part of the role involves preparing high-quality briefings, submissions and reports for senior executives, ministers and Cabinet, ensuring advice is clear, accurate and aligned with organisational and government priorities. You will also act as a central point of contact for the Director – Strategy, Policy and Communications, coordinating responses to complex requests and maintaining strong relationships across government and industry.

Alongside critical engagement, coordination and delivery activities, you will drive policy research, analysis and evaluation to support informed decision-making. This includes identifying emerging issues, assessing risks, and developing practical, evidence-based solutions that strengthen Destination NSW's activities and the visitor economy. You will provide considered advice on sensitive and high-impact matters, while also informing and leading, whole-of-government initiatives under the Visitor Economy Strategy 2035. The role also focuses on improving governance, systems and processes, and establishing effective monitoring and evaluation approaches to ensure initiatives deliver meaningful and measurable outcomes.

About Destination NSW

Destination NSW is the champion and voice for the visitor economy within the NSW Government. Spearheading a whole-of-government approach to visitor economy growth, Destination NSW influences and shapes the visitor economy through strategic research, policy and thought leadership, stakeholder engagement and consultation, commercial partnerships and investment in visitor experiences, business support, marketing and events. Destination NSW is also the major investor in Business Events Sydney (BESydney) for the purpose of securing more international and domestic conventions, incentive travel reward programs, corporate events and exhibitions.

About You

You are a confident and capable professional with strong judgement and excellent written communication skills. You have experience preparing clear, well-structured briefings, submissions and reports for senior audiences, and can quickly distil complex information into practical advice. You are comfortable working at pace, often responding to emerging or sensitive issues with limited notice, and can balance competing priorities without losing sight of the bigger picture. A proactive and solutions-focused approach is essential, along with the ability to anticipate risks and ensure leaders are well informed and prepared.

You build effective working relationships across a wide range of stakeholders and are skilled at navigating differing views to reach practical outcomes. You are equally comfortable working independently and leading others, creating a supportive and collaborative team environment. Your ability to analyse policy issues, identify trends and develop evidence-based recommendations will be key, as will your commitment to improving processes, governance and ways of working. You take ownership of your work, follow through on commitments, and are driven to deliver high-quality outcomes.
