Overview

Aus Flight Handling is a leading provider of ground and air cargo services, with a workforce of approximately 300 people, handling over 1000 flights per week at nineteen airports across Australia. We have an exciting opportunity available based at Townsville Airport, to lead our Townsville Team as the Aus Flight Handling Airport Manager. This role has full oversight and management of our Townsville Operation and Team. This is a hands-on Management role, so previous Aviation Ground Operations experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Safety
* Hold safety as a core value and contribute to the achievement of a zero harm and an incident / injury free environment through active participation in all safety programs relevant to the position.
* Ensure policies/procedures are adhered to in accordance with Aus Flight Handling, airline policies and regulatory requirements.
* Regularly review all safety reports in Donesafe and ensure airlines reports have been submitted.
* Actively lead safety related investigation for the port.
* Engage with internal/external auditors when in your port and provide any assistance required.
* Activity lead safety and compliance meetings and demonstrate leadership to all team members to encourage a safe working culture.
Operational
* Manage and maintain the port organisation and establishment plan to ensure that the port employs and trains sufficient personnel to achieve the departmental and corporate business objectives, including appropriate succession and contingency planning.
* Drive operational efficiency through effective management of labour budgets, and continuous process improvement.
* Lead decision making and organisational skills for the port to efficiently meet performance requirements and maintain schedule and operational integrity for our clients.
* Ensure that the port have the tools and equipment to effectively carry out their roles and come up with solutions including creating justifications for procuring additional equipment where required.
* Ensure the team achieves defined key performance criteria including but not limited to on-time performance, ancillary collection, mishandled baggage, customer service, precision timings and compliance.
* Proactively identify operational weaknesses and implement corrective actions.
* Prepare company and client defined reports and administrative functions.
* Ensure smooth running of AFH operations with a proactive and pre-emptive approach.
* Ensuring accurate records are kept in relation to time sheets, work performed, training and incidents.
* Travel to other locations to attend meetings and provide support.
* Attend monthly leadership meetings.
Leadership & Culture
* Lead a culture that values equality, fairness, and transparency, and zero tolerance for bullying, discrimination and harassment.
* Coach and develop team and uphold staff disciplines and adherence to Aus Flight Handling, client and regulatory procedures and policies.
* Handling of escalated staff grievances, complaints, discipline etc. In consultation with Operations Manager/Employee Relations where appropriate.
* Recognise and reward the team for good performance including facilitating team events and recording individual performance in logs.
* Lead recruitment requirements for the port and conduct interviews and appointment of new team members in consultation with Ramp and Customer services Managers.
* Maintain effective open communication with all internal and external key stakeholders.
