Financial Operations Specialist
We are seeking an experienced Financial Operations Specialist to support our financial operations for multiple medical practices across Queensland.
This role will be responsible for managing bookkeeping, maintaining accurate records, and performing close processes. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, with a strong background in financial management.
* Manage bookkeeping for multiple entities under one umbrella
* Maintain accurate general ledger records, journals, and balance sheet reconciliations
* Perform monthly and year-end close processes (inc. BAS prep and lodging)
* Prepare practice-level financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow etc.)
* Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany transactions
* Oversee accounts payable and receivable
* Process and review payroll
* Support annual budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and variance analysis
* Maintain compliance with ATO obligations, including GST, PAYG, and Superannuation
* Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax agents for EOFY processes
* Maintain strong internal controls and assist in system/process improvements
Previous experience with financial management in a healthcare or allied health setting would be beneficial.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
* Advanced proficiency with XERO accounting software
* Experience with payroll systems (e.g. Tanda, Deputy, Employment Hero or similar)
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Microsoft Excel)
* Sound knowledge of Australian accounting standards and compliance requirements
* Understanding of the Medicare system, private billing models, and practice management software (e.g., Best Practice, MedicalDirector, or Genie) would be an advantage
