Senior Associate or Special Counsel - Public Liability (Government)

We have a newopportunity for an experienced senior lawyer to join our marketleading General Insurance practice in Melbourne, working with ahighly regarded Partner and team of lawyers.

This rolewill primarily involve handling coronial inquiries and publicliability (personal injury) claims for government departments andclients, including catastrophic personal injury claims. This rolewill suit legal practitioners with experience working for, orwithin, government in areas involving personal injurylitigation.

Our GeneralInsurance team advises on and manages a diverse portfolio of claimsfor many Australian and international insurers and underwriters,government departments and public sector entities and self-insuredcorporations. Our team routinely handles claims that are complex,technically challenging and high profile. Our team in Melbourne ispart of our national General Insurance practice - a collaborative,collegiate and high performing team.

Aboutyou

You willideally have the following skills and experience:

* aminimum of 4 years of post-admission experience in defendantlitigation;
* experience advisinggovernment or public entities in personal injury matters orcoronial inquests, or alternatively experience working in agovernment department;
* experience managingpersonal injury claims;
* ideallyyou will have experience supervising, mentoring and delegatingto junior lawyers or paralegals;
* strongtechnical ability and attention to detail; and
* strongnegotiation and advocacy skills.
